NærøyfjordNærøyfjord in Sognefjord - Western Norway - is one of the worlds most beautiful and dramatic fjords! The name Nærøyfjord origin from the norse god 'Njord', the god of the seafarer and the sea.

Nærøyfjord is one of many fjordarms in the 204 km long Sognefjord, the 'King of the Fjords'. In 2005 it became a part of UNESCO's World Heritage together with Geirangerfjord.

   
         

 

 

Nærøyfjord is an adventure. Experience it from boat, in kayak or by walking in the surrounding mountains and green valleys. National Geographic TravelerOct 2006: UNESCO's World Heritage are now a total of 830 sites. To see how some of these places are doing, National Geographic Traveler conducted a Destination Scorecard survey. The scores are based on a 1-to-100 scale, and Norway's Western Fjords ranks as number one with 87 points. Vézelay in France ranks as number two with 81 points.
